Arbitrating The War God
25 December 2007
 |
Happy Christmas to everyone first of all. Maybe this will come as a surprise to many, but after about two years of inaction, most of Zenolyth have got their collective minds together and have decided to persue work on their first album! The Apocalyth EP left a lot to be desired, and the CD will hope to remedy this, and will contain new material too. The project name is, as the headline suggests, 'Arbitrating the War God' - I'm sure some people will 'get it!' Whether or not Zenolyth will be doing shows again remains to be seen.
Former guitarist James has decided he does not wish to have a part in this project, so a replacement will be named shortly. |
The CD will contain all-new recordings of our staple tunes: "Into The Pit," "Another World Bends," "The Eleventh Hour" and previously unreleased "Works Of Art" and "Make Your Peace." At the time of writing, most of the rhythm tracks are complete, and progress is fast. More information will be provided before too long.

Get our music!Updated: 06 September 2006
In case anyone didn't notice (likely), our ZenoStore actually has things in it now! Included is a boxed edition of the Apocalyth EP, making it the only place you can get a full quality version of our disc now. Also there are T-Shirts and posters, with maybe more to come if we can be bothered to design stuff.
Of course, we still offer all the EP tracks for free, from our media section but the quality of the MP3s is low-fi and thus isn't very good :) - If you want the quality you'll have to pay in some way : P - This is how the modern music industry should work, says we.
If you don't fancy either option, try www.musicfreedom.com/zenolyth. You can buy our tracks for $0.99 each - High quality encoded MP3s for dead cheap! I've personally used MusicFreedom before to buy tracks (Moonwing, if anyone's interested) and it's definately a great site. If not, just check it out and tell us what ya think, or leave us a rating.

Thanks to everyone for all ZenoSupport since the start!

Bravura.
Updated: 21 July 2006
As well as James Morwood, who has joined the Ten Foot Dolls, James Hartley and Carl have started up their own post-Zenolyth project entitled Bravura. We consider Bravura to be described loosely as Jazz, although a definate style has yet to be decided on. Visit our myspace page for more information.

Morwood moving up.
Updated: 01 May 2006
I said I'd keep you updated on the wherabouts of Zenolyth's members as I found out, so here I am. Morwood was announced guitarist for the band Ten Foot Dolls last night, which is an awesome achievement. I hope you will continue to support him in the future, and for now check out the website I've linked here.

Zenolyth have disbanded.
Updated: 17 April 2006
Zenolyth split today. The band feel that they have done all they can and aren't going anywhere anymore. Thus, Morwood has left and the other members have decided to quit on that note. This site will stand, since I use it for my own homepage, so it will still be here for reference and the forum will still be active. Since this will be the only formal property of Zenolyth left, I will assume ownership of everything for now and see what happens in the future.
As for what happens now, I don't know. We'll have to see what happens in the future. There are plans to wrap up this project by releasing one more CD featuring all the songs that we ever played, I will keep this site updated on that. Morwood is auditioning for a band called 'Aim For The Head' so he'll probably be with them now. I am 'The Terranova Project', and I'll keep you updated on what the rest of the band are up to when I find out.
Thanks for the support over the year and a bit.

Future updates.
Update: 23 March 2006
This site hasn't been updated properly for 2 months, but there are updates coming soon - Mostly these will be site-only updates. We're pulling in a lot of traffic from a lot of places at the moment, so I'm overhauling the site to help accomodate all our new guests
Zenolyth are currently in a 'quiet stage' - Updates when I get them.

Shows done.
Update: 18 Jan 2006
All scheduled shows have now been played, the last of which being the show supporting Flatline at The Grapes on the 16th of this month. Thanks to all the 10 people who showed up. [Photos coming soon.] Now Zenolyth are writing and writing... and writing and writing some more! By the next batch of shows, you should be able to look forward to a whole load of completely new material. Thanks for your support in 2005! 2006 is the year of the Z!

Carl stepping down.
Update: 18 Jan 2006
Hi. As much as I hate to announce it, I have had to step down from my role in the band. University work has become more intense and frequent than before and I really can't make time for band anymore in my schedule. But, the band is carrying on and I'll still be involved every now and again. Also, this site will remain and will still be looked after by myself. It's been a great laugh, anyway, and Zenolyth are still as strong, if not stronger, than ever!

ZENOLYTH 'SPOOKY' HALLOWEEN PARTY
Updated: 28th October 2005
We can't apologise enough for last night's show. A mix of bad sound tech, acoustics and mostly us playing the worst show we've done so far, by a long way. On the positive, it's raised some serious concerns and we're going to work our asses off getting back into our Zenolyth-style beefy shape. Apologies to the other bands we played with for that performance yesterday, we're ashamed that you had to support us in that state.
At least one thing worked: The costumes were a hit, thanks to all who participated. Hopefully we'll get photos up soon. Other than that, we hope those who went at least had a bit of fun.

EP TRACKS RECORDED!
Today (25th) we've been in the studio and we have recorded the studio tracks we'll be using on our EP! All 4 tracks that were planned have been created and have come out just as, or better, than expected! The release of this disc shouldn't be far behind now, it's already in the pipeline.
The artwork is almost finished, as well as the extras for the disc, and publishers are being researched. We'll keep you informed, but until then, here's a teaser for the artwork, blurred and mangled so you can't make it out properly. Also, don't forget to check out the media section for clips and a full song!

THE APOCALYTH DAWNS...
Zenolyth's first release is around the corner! I'm not sure how much information I'm allowed to release about this, but I'm hyped up about it so I'll just say a load of stuff anyway! We will be releasing an EP named around the theme of 'Apocalyth' (although a name still has to be decided on). Cover art is being drawn by band artist Ellie and should be special indeed.
The disc will feature the following:
STUDIO RECORDINGS - 'Into The Pit', 'Another World Bends', 'Ride On' and 'Super Secret Unnamed Song'!
LIVE RECORDINGS - Taken from the gigs we played in July.
PRACTICE RECORDINGS (MAYBE) - Some of the best practice recordings.
DATA SECTION - Live footage, Full live picture sets, Promotional Pictures, maybe more!
Currently the plan is to be in the studio on August 28th, but unfortunately may have to be delayed a while. Hopefully the EP will be ready by September! The price has yet to be discussed, but it will be very reasonable for what we're offering, so get saving!
On a final note, Click Here! Check out Zenolyth's mention in the local paper. Reaction.

A NEW LEVEL
July is nearly finished for Zenolyth. This is our 'July Gig Planner' we drew up quickly, which gives a basic summary of how our gigs went: Here. Overall we're pleased with how all our gigs went, most notably The Boardwalk. That's why we're pleased to announce that we'll be returning there to headline a show on the 29th of December, 2005! We don't know many details yet and it is a while away, but be sure to look out for that show.
As for the time between now and then, we'll probably get in a few more gigs, but the focus now is on writing more material ready for our first recording session which is currently set for the end of August. We have 4 of our own songs, so we'd like to bring that up to at least 8 before we get into the studio.
Zenolyth is in fantastic shape, and we're running stronger than ever right now.

ZENOLYTH'S BIG MONTH!
We've been listening to the earliest recordings of our songs, and one thing we all can agree on is just how far we've come since then. Now at this stage, our set is up to 7 songs, and there are 2 more nearing completion that will be ready soon. And it's definately fair to say that this is our busiest month to date. Here are all the details we know about our shows this month:
1. All Saints School 'Talent Show'
All Saints School, Granville Road, 8th July, 7:30, £2 entry
It may sound a bit strange, but this will be our first show of July. We have been asked to open the show with a few songs, so this is a good chance to come see us play 3/4 of our songs in a 15 minute set. Please note we aren't actually in the show, because Morwood was apparently 'too old'. The show starts at 7:30.
2. Sheffield Green Fair
St Mary's community centre, 16th July, 1:45, £1 for adults/50p concessions.
Our next performance will be as a set supporting the Sheffield Green Fair 2005, which will be hosted at St Mary's Community Centre on Bramall Lane, Sheffield. There will be a small fee for the fair.
Green Fair Site
3. Charity Night At The Boardwalk
The Boardwalk, 18th July
This is the big one. This is our chance to play a full set on the biggest and most respected stage in Sheffield (for the little bands such as us, that is). The Boardwalk decided that it'd be nice to spell our name wrong on their site, so we may be referred to as 'ZENOTH' a few times. We'll be playing with the bands '10 second split', 'inequality' and 'judgemental repercussions', none of which we can find any information on. Maybe they're spelled wrong.
In any case, this is all the information we know. We don't know entry fees, timings or what charity this night involves yet, just that we're playing 2nd to last. Make sure you're there, this is the one we're really going to make ourselves known at.
The Boardwalk's Website
4. ZENOLYTH + WOUNDED MARSUPIAL + AHYMSA
The Grapes (Trippet lane), 25th July, 7:00
Zenolyth and Wounded Marsupial return! This time we're playing support to London based post-prog band Ahymsa, who we assume are going to rock. We're playing at around 7:30, Wounded Maruspial 8:30, Ahymsa 9:30. Entry will be £3, which is very fair.
Ahymsa's Website / Wounded Marsupial's Site
And that's the list for now. Keep checking the dates page, because we'll update there when we get the information we're missing.
Bye for now - The guys from Zenolyth.

SUCCESS!
Well after some small panics about not being ready and riff forgettage, our first live show went really well. Although the venue was small and the audience was limited, the show was perfectly executed and played, a little work perhaps on performance and we'd have had it perfect. However it has strenghtened our belief that when we get bigger shows on bigger stages, we'll be able to deliver a kickass live show! The other acts were absolutely awesome too - It was a pleasure to play alongside them, and we all gave a great show all round! The show was recorded, and we'll include clips on our demo as extras when we release it.
Speaking of which, we had a talk with the guys from Wounded Marsupial (who we think are great) and are planning maybe recording with them and releasing a split EP with them, as well as also including our tracks on our own demo with the Zenolyth extras - Whichever one you pick to have will be entirely personal preference, but we really do recommend you hear or even better, go and see WM!
Also we will probably be doing a lot more live shows with Wounded Marsupial too, so look out for us! There are a few pictures from the show in our pictures section, so go take a look.

GIG!
After more sucessful practices, it is with great joy that I can announce that our first live gig has been booked! We will be playing with an awesome band we are friendly with called Wounded Marsupial and Tom Draper (Ex-Firegarden), and can garantee that this show is going to officially kick ass, so get yourselves over to the dates page to find out info!

RISING
Woo! After a lot of work and effort we're really pushing ahead fast (at least it seems like it!). A sucessful day out, and an even more sucessful photo shoot, and a possible date for an actual show that we will feature in? I think that counts as 'pushing ahead'. We're a lot nearer to recording our demo than I think any of us imagine. By this stage, we have 1 song nailed completely, 2 covers pretty much sorted and are very nearly done with another 2 songs. This means we will definately have the disc recorded before our (possible) show at the 'Green Fair' in July.
John has now been named as our manager, and will doubtless prove that his previous managerial skills are still there, and will give Zenolyth the handy kick in the arse it needs in order to get that demo recorded!
Anyway enough of this, get looking at our promotion pics!

UP AND RUNNING
By this stage, pretty much all of our website is up and running! We hope you like it, and will continue to check back every now and again to check our progress - Things are really looking up for ZENOLYTH!
Our plans now are simple. First we are going to have a 'Band Day Out', which is simply a day where we're gonna get to know each other better, using the wonder drink BEER. After that, we're planning a photo shoot near Ant's house, which we can use for promotions and simply to put something in our photo gallery section.
And, of course, continuing to write and play, until we are ready to commit our songs to a demo disc! By this time, of course, we'll have enough material to play for you all, and will begin to book some dates for gigs! Woo!
Bye for now!

ZENOLYTH WEBSITE OPENED
If you're reading this, it means you've found your way to the official website of SHEFFIELD heavy metal band ZENOLYTH. Congratulations. Most of the site is fully functional by now, and instead of making a new news report each time a little bit is updated, we'll just do it silently. In the meantime, look around our finished pages and bookmark this place!
At the current time of writing, the band is planning ahead. We are still young, but in a short amount of time we are nearly ready to record our first 'demo' and arrange some local gigs. Any progress we make will be recorded here on this very site.
